DeCoy "Dee" R Larsen December 28, 1916 - January 16, 2009 WEST HAVEN - DeCoy "Dee" R Larsen, died Friday, January 16, 2009, at the age of 92, in West Haven, Utah, from causes incident to age. He was born December 28, 1916, in Monroe, Utah, to Louis Hillary Larsen and Carrie Torena Christiansen. He was the fourth in a family of eight children. The family moved to Ephraim, Utah, when he was two years old. He graduated from high school and Snow College in Ephraim, and attended the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. On November 22, 1939, Dee married Lila Anna Nielson in Manti, Utah and on December 3, 1964, they were sealed for time and eternity in the Logan Utah Temple. Together they had three children, Stephen D, Judith Ann and Charlene. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Radio Technician until his discharge on December 28, 1945. He spent most of his working career as a civil engineer for the US Bureau of Reclamation, on dams and other water projects in the Western US. Upon his retirement, he returned to Ephraim to live. He enjoyed the outdoors; gardening, fishing and hunting. He also did some beautiful leather tooling and lapidary work, collecting, cutting, polishing, and setting various types of stones. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Lila passed away on March 2, 1987. On November 28, 1987, he married Francis Cloward Stevens in Ephraim, Utah. She passed away January 10, 2001, in Ephraim, Utah. After her death, Dee moved to West Point, Utah to live with his son, and later moved into an assisted living facility. Dee is survived by two children, Stephen D (Sandra) Larsen, West Point, Utah, and Judy (Alan) Ostler, Bountiful, Utah; seven grandchildren; Dee S (Michelle) Larsen, Lane M (Callie) Larsen, John H (Zilpha) Larsen, Kristen Larsen (Aaron) Eklund; Sean Ostler; Kevin (Tammy) Crabb, and Kari Crabb (Scott) Breeding; fifteen great-grandchildren: Jill, Rachel, Zachary, Jared, Alaina, Mackenzie, Katie, Hannah, and Quinn Larsen; Kade Eklund; Cassie, Kylee and Cheyenne Breeding; Hillary and Dakota Crabb; and one brother, Richard Kenneth "Dick" (Valene) Larsen, Sterling, Utah. He is also survived by the family of Francis, who welcomed hin as a family member. He was preceded in death by his wife Lila, a daughter, Charlene Larsen Crabb Hill; a grandson, Aaron Wayne Ostler, his second wife Francis, his parents and the following brothers and sisters: Marlin Hillary Larsen, Christian Afton Larsen, Grace Ilean Anderson, Virginia Marie Thompson, Dorothy Nielson and Mildred Amalia Phelps Owens. The family would like to express thanks and appreciation for the staff at Country Pines, Clinton, Utah and Peach Tree Place, West Haven, Utah and also Hospice for Utah. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 23, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah. Friends and family may call on Friday from 8:45 - 9:45 a.m., prior to services at the Mortuary. A graveside service will be held on Friday, at the Ephraim City Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Ephraim City Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Utah National Guard.
