Dell Stanley Adams Obituary (1929 - 2016)

Dell Stanley Adams West Haven - Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Dell Stanley Adams, returned to his Heavenly Father on October 26, 2016 in his home surrounded by his nieces and family after a long battle of pain which he fought to the end. Dell was born in Ogden on July 4, 1929 to Raymond T. and Sarah Ellen Adams. Dell was always proud of his birthday because he thought everyone was celebrating his birthday with parades and fun times. Dell graduated from Ogden High School and was the second of three brothers, Raymond H. (deceased) and Arthur J. Adams. Dell married Bonnie Olsen on May 12, 1966 in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. He was an Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They have been happily married for over 50 years enjoying life together, whether it be working, traveling to several parts of the country or being with their friends for the past 26 years in St. George, Utah. After High School he was in the Naval Reserve for many years where he enjoyed the friendship of others. At age 15, Dell's first job was to ride his bike and deliver magazines, Liberty, True Story and Sunday Mirror to downtown businesses. His teenage years he worked at Mutual Creameries and a short time for OUR&D Railroad. He then worked for Utah Power and Light and retired from the company after working for 37 years. He worked as a plant operator, lineman, customer service planner in the Ogden area and before retiring, worked as systems dispatcher in the Salt Lake Office. He was a member of Union IBEW Local #57 for 65 years, member of Ogden Executive Club, and Toastmaster Club. His early memories on Saturday's was a 10 cent movie with the PopEye Club at the Paramount theatre, enjoyed 3 for a nickle candy bars and to buy a cup for a penny at the Dairy on Ogden Ave, where he could drink all the buttermilk he desired. Also, the many hours making rubber guns and playing with his cousin Vic Adams. Dell loved the game of golf being 4th Stockholder and planner of the Ben Lomond Golf Course in 1957. Years of the game brought him joy with all the fun times with his golfing buddies. He will be remembered for his quick sense of humor, a hearty laugh, and his generosity was most evident to all. After marrying Bonnie and living on the farm his time was spent working hard and driving his Kobata Tractor and taking care of the horses and animals on the farm. He was always available to attend any activities with his daughter while competing with her horses or supporting his wife with her dancing in St. George. He greatly missed his Corgi dog "Teah" after a short life with her. Dell has been blessed to have two beautiful nieces Stacie and Dixie who has filled in the last few years of his life to bring him much love and joy. Dell is survived by his wife, Bonnie; daughter, Denise (Dean J.) Taylor, Farr West, Utah; two beautiful grandchildren, Kyle and Camille Taylor whom he greatly loved; and one grandson, Jeremy Taylor (deceased). Dell is also survived by several nieces and nephews who dearly loved him. The family would like to offer a special thank you to all that cared for him. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the West Weber Cemetery, 4592 W 950 N. A viewing will be held prior to services from 9 to 11 a.m. at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. Interment will be in the West Weber Cemetery.
