Della Mae Deem Obituary (1916 - 2002)

Della Mae Weaver Deem Della Mae Weaver Deem passed quietly away Friday, July 5, 2002, surrounded by her family in St. George, Utah. She was 86 years old. Della was born in Willard, Utah on March 15, 1916, to James Albert Weaver and Dollie Emily Cook. She enjoyed spending her childhood in Perry and attending Perry and Box Elder Schools. She eloped with her sweetheart, Orville Joy Deem, on December 9, 1935 and they were sealed in the Logan Temple on March 1, 1963. Originally they lived in Willard before settling on a farm in Delta. There she assisted Orville as they raised their family of three daughters and one son. She worked at a variety store and phone company. As Orville's health declined, they moved to Harrisville. There she worked at the Defense Depot Ogden from which she retired. She lived out her life in Harrisville except for living the last six months with her daughter, Carla, in St. George. She served in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, particularly enjoying her work with the Mia Maids and then finally as a greeter. She volunteered at the Senior Citizen Center in Harrisville, where she shared with her many friends her love of gardening and her skills in handiwork. She loved to sew and even did some upholstery. She loved her family and was very proud of them. She was eager to help support her grandsons on their missions. She is survived by two daughters, Carla Fox and Konra (Bill) Minniear, both of St. George; one son, Randy Orville (Gloria) Deem, Perry; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren. They will miss her wonderful wit and frequent snappy comebacks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville; a daughter, Valay Brownson; a grandson, Rob Allred; and a granddaughter, Marnie Allred.
