DeLona Jean Merrill Jensen passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday May 10th, 2025.
DeLona was born to Loren B. Merrill and Lyda Mae Fenn Merrill in Tucson, Arizona. They would later move to Ogden, Utah, where she was raised by her mother and her father, Clix (Clarence Kranendonk Sr). She was affectionately nicknamed “Bug”. This nickname would follow her around for the rest of her life.
DeLona attended schools in Weber County and graduated from Weber High School.
DeLona married her high school sweetheart, best friend and love of her life, Thomas Jensen. They had three children; Tiffany, Jodi and Tyson.
She worked as a welder for over 25 yrs for Chromolox and Parker Hannifin.
DeLona loved to dance. From a young age she took ballet lessons and then Hawaiian, Polynesian and Tahitian. Our mama could definitely shake her hips! She loved all things crafting, crocheting, quilting and painting. She always had one, two or five projects going on at once.
DeLona had a strong testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings, but her favorite was serving as a counselor in the stake young women’s presidency. She loved planning everything that went into girls camp, and other activities.
Her favorite color was red, bold and full of life, just like her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
DeLona is survived by her husband of 46 years, Thomas Jensen; her lovable, red heeler, Zip and her spoiled Boston Terrier, Lady Bug; her children Tiffany Wassom (Phillip), Jodi Bassett (Tony), and Tyson Jensen (Melissa). She is survived by her grandchildren; Taylor, Kayden, Jaycee, Kobe, Payton, Joshua, Autumn, Korbyn, Levi and Kyler; and her first, great grandson, Kelton.
She is also survived by her mother, Lyda Kranendonk and her sisters Debbie Nicholls (Val), Deanna Castor (Jeff), and Lonie Grob.
She is preceded in death by her father, Loren, her Daddy Clix, brothers Junior Kranendonk and Gary Merrill; and granddaughter, Macee Mae.
