Delsa Griffith Fowers Obituary (1922 - 2009)

Delsa Fowers Ogden - Delsa D. Griffith Fowers, 86, died September 20, 2009, in Ogden. She was born October 17, 1922, in Ogden, Utah, to Leo Lawrence Griffith Sr. and Johanna Hein Griffith. Delsa attended Ogden City schools and graduated from Ogden High School. Delsa married Herbert E. Fowers on March 1, 1943, in Las Vegas, NV; their marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple on March 22, 1962. She was a member of the LDS Church and served as a counselor in the Primary and was a teacher; she also worked in the Ogden Temple as an ordinance worker. Delsa was president of the Hooper Jr. Women's Club in 1959. She was a quiet, stay-at- home mom who enjoyed reading, cooking, growing plants, needlework and crossword puzzles. She collected porcelain dolls, music boxes and sea shells. Delsa is survived by her husband Herbert; children Marsha Ann Paul (Merlin) of Farr West, Stephen Leslie Fowers (Rose) of Roy, Jerel Herbert Fowers (Nancy) of Rock Springs, Susan Smith (John) of Hooper, Gail Yngve of Brigham City, Cheryl Vallejos (Rick) of Ogden and Lisa Bonasera (Mark) of Carmel, CA; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers; 3 sisters and one granddaughter. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009 at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden. Friends may call on Wednesday, Sept. 23rd from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interment will be at the Hooper City Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Clemens and his staff and to Symbii Hospice, special thanks to her aide Keri, her nurse Christine, her social worker Amy and Bea Cardwell.
