Denice Olsen

Denice Olsen, aged 82, passed away peacefully on April 22nd, 2025, in Riverdale, Utah. Born on November 21st, 1942, in Ogden Utah, she was the beloved daughter of Dewayne Rogerson and Bernice “Billie” Wheat. Denny lived in Huntsville for many years and graduated from Weber High School.

Denice married Leon Wright in 1961; and had two beloved children they later divorced. She then married Gerald “Jar” Olsen, they spent their time as a couple traveling and gardening.

Denice loved traveling and spending time with her family. There were very few years not spent in Huntsville on the Fourth of July with as many family members as possible at her brother’s house. She was an active member of the Ogden Fraternal Order of Eagles and enjoyed her time spent there. She made some very good friends through her involvement with the Eagles. She loved being able to help anyone and supported everyone, especially her family; She always perked up for her great grandchildren and loved every moment spent with them.

She is survived by her loving children, Kristy (Lisa Parker) Kranendonk and Randy (Cari) Wright; her grandchildren, Sean (Collenia) Kranendonk, Madison and Miya Wright; and her great grandchildren, Kaylee Kranendonk, Felix and Rowan Visage and Nineveh Gallegos. She is also survived by her siblings Joan (Howard) Gafford, Claire Dowdy, Terri (Wayne) Hurlbut, Brett (Sherrie) Smith. She treasured her time later in life spent with her companion Richard “Dick” Nerdin, they brought property and had a trailer in Idaho where they spent many wonderful summers. Denice was predeceased by her husband Gerald Olsen, her grandson Sean, her father Dewayne, her mother Bernice “Billie” Smith and stepfather Jack Smith.

Denice was known for her kindness, love of gardening, love for camping, long walks and she was completely dedicated to her family.

We want to give a special thanks to Aspen Ridge Hospice Facility care team and a special shout out to her caregivers Ashlee and Marzena. We are so grateful for them.

A service will be held at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT at 11 AM on Tuesday April 29, 2025. Interment at Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.

We would love all who knew her to come and celebrate her life at 1:00 pm on Tuesday following the services, at the Ogden Eagles, 975 Wall Ave, Ogden, UT, 84404.

Denice will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
