Dennis Lofquist Owens

–

Roy, UT

ROY, Utah - Dennis Lofquist Owens passed away on May 3, 2002, following a courageous battle with kidney cancer. Dennis was born August 26, 1942, in Ogden, Utah, to Kenneth Clyde Owens and Emma Emelie Lofquist.

Dennis married Margaret E. Webb on June 1, 1963. Margaret died in September 1984. Dennis then married Carolyn Chappell Ware on March 7, 1986 in Roy, Utah. Dennis was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Margaret; his father, Kenneth; and his brothers, Kenneth L. Owens, Emmett L. Owens, and Douglas L. Owens. He is survived by his 2nd wife, Carolyn; his mother, Emma; his brother, Marv L. (Debbie) Owens, his sister, Linda O. (Val) Schultz, his sisters-in-law, Jean Owens and Debbie Owens; his children, Angela M. (Timothy) Sucese, Dennis S. Owens (Philip D. Jeffs), and Greg S. (Nancy) Owens; his stepchildren, Stephanie A. Ware, William M. (Stephanie) Ware, David M. (Michelle) Ware, and Nancy J. (Gene) Smith. In addition, 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews survive Dennis.

Dennis and Carolyn are each other's soul mates. The two enjoyed bowling, movies, square dancing, golfing, and vacationing together. Dennis especially loved his family, including his nieces and nephews. Dennis enjoyed picking out Christmas trees, starting water fights and picking on his sister. He loved to roast hot dogs in the canyon with his kids and he loved his stepchildren as his own. He took pride in all of their accomplishments, and his grandchildren were the light of his life.

Dennis had a passion for dog training. He was proud when he and his dog, Ginger, titled in agility training. The two worked together with search & rescue and in dog therapy for nursing homes and schools. Another passion was his love for music. Dennis was a professional drummer in several local country-western bands for over 35 years. He filled many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. Most of all, Dennis liked to make people laugh and he loved to see them smile.

Dennis attended Ben Lomond High School, after which he worked at Defense Depot Ogden for 29 years. Following his retirement, he worked as a school bus driver for Laidlaw. Driving children to school brought him joy. Dennis worked on learning a new Spanish word every day so that he could communicate with all the children on his bus.

The family would like to thank Lisa with Heritage Brookside Home Care, and Melinda with Vista Care, whose compassion and tenderness during Dennis' last days were much appreciated by Dennis and his family.

All who knew Dennis will miss him.
