Devan N. Brough Obituary (1914 - 2001)

DEVAN N. BROUGH BRIGHAM CITY - De Van N. Brough, 86, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2001 at the Pioneer Care Center. He was born in Ucon, ID, on December 3, 1914, the son of Gilbert Brough and Lilian Groom. He married Ronella Meacham of Soda Springs, ID, on the 28th of April, 1940 and were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were the parents of 4 children. He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving on 2 High Councils, and doing Missionary and Temple work. He loved hunting and especially fly fishing. Van was a master craftsman in woodworking making furniture and doing inside finish work in hardwoods. During World War II he served as a civilian doing construction for military sites including Hill AFB, sites along the California coast, and in the Aleution Islands. After the war Van was a building contractor in Idaho Falls, ID, building commercial buildings including some of the Ricks College campus. Later he supervised construction sites in the Stockton, CA. area and in Hawaii. He is survived by his wife Ronella Brough, daughter JoAnne (Ray) Waddoups of Mesa, AZ., son Allan D. (Suzette) Brough of Brigham City, son David V.(Ann) Brough of Mesa, AZ., and daughter Cathy (Joseph) McKee of Linden, CA, 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 13, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary in Brigham, where friends may call Tues. 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
