Dirk Draayer Obituary (1970

Dirk Delayne Draayer, born on August 28, 1970 in Ogden, Utah to Fredrick William Draayer and Marion "Billie" Alice Tracy Sanford, passed from his difficult life on Sunday May 8, 2022. He grew up in Brigham City and Layton but lived most of his life in Ogden. Dirk had a kind heart, although life was not always kind, he persevered through it with humor and art. Dirk taught himself to paint and created beautiful scenes of galaxies, the ocean, other worlds, or mythical creatures anywhere he could paint. He was very talented and passionate about what he created. Dirk was smart and enjoyed time with his brothers working on cars, creating odd gadgets, or coming up with the next grand scheme. Dirk was a fun uncle for his nieces and nephews, who remember many good times of skateboarding, painting, being goofy, jumping on the trampoline or just saying something to make you smile. Although good choices were not always made, the intent for a sweet life and good memories were not hard to find. Be free as a bird Dirk, let your spirit soar, find peace, all the adventures and spectacular other worlds that weren't found here on earth. Dirk is survived by his children, whom he loved very much; sisters Darsie, Danice (Larry), Sherie, Janet (Dan), and JoLin (Steve); brothers Jerry, Clayton, and Craig (Susan); stepmom Sharen Draayer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by both parents; brothers Shawn, Donnel, Samuel Douglas and Michael; and sisters Phyllis and Crystal. A private memorial service will be held with interment at West Point Cemetery, Utah, where he will be laid to rest with his beloved brothers and Dad. The family wishes to thank everyone who assisted in putting Dirk to rest. Thank you for the kindness and respect for life you have shown.
