Dixie Denney Obituary (1945 - 2024)

Dixie Doniel Denney passed away on October 8, 2024. She was born in Dillon, Montana, on May 30, 1945, to William E. and Leda Peterson Dalby. She grew up in Rupert, Idaho where she attended school and learned many formative lessons from her parents and siblings, as the youngest of 7 kids. Dixie married D. Lynn Denney, on December 16, 1967, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They are the parents of five wonderful children. Her family was everything to her. She and Lynn enjoyed many road trips to visit grandchildren, making sure they were always there for their major life events. All of her grandchildren fought over who was her favorite, and when she was with them, she gave them her all. When all her grandchildren were together it warmed her heart. She also loved driving to the Pacific Northwest coast to visit the many lighthouses. Dixie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many callings. She was loved by those who knew her, and she greeted everyone there with her special hugs. Her 'hug rounds' were known to her ward family and she gave her love and hugs freely. She had an unwavering testimony of the gospel which was evident in all that she did. Dixie was passionate about music and a great pianist. She felt at home at the ocean and was enchanted by the many lighthouses that she visited. She was a talented cross stitcher, enjoyed reading and was an avid scrap booker. Dixie is survived by her beloved husband, Lynn; children, Darin Denney, Michelle Rochelle, Nikole (David) Bonnell, Sean Denney; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert (Wilma) Dalby and Karen (Gordon) Hansen. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Leda; son, Scott; son-in-law Adam; siblings, Bill Dalby, Elaine Barraclough, Marvin Dalby, and Clarence Dalby. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 14, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Harrisville 9th Ward, 1560 N. 200 W. Harrisville, with viewings Sunday the 13th at the Ogden Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. for 5-7 p.m. and prior to the funeral at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Ben Lomond Cemetery. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many healthcare providers who have cared for their mother throughout the years.
