Dixie W. Fishburn

Dixie W. Fishburn passed away Monday, August 4th 2014 at Davis Hospital in Layton, Utah. She was battling a valiant fight when she was called back home to be with our loving Father in Heaven.

Dixie was born to Harold and Athlene Weatherston on March 23, 1938 and lived her young years in Clearfield, Utah. She married the love of her life, Jerry R. Fishburn on August 18, 1960 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Together they made their home and raised their family in Sunset for 42 years until retiring to Layton. She held various positions of employment over the years that ranged from receptionist at Olson Chevrolet to Teachers Aid at Sunset Jr. High with many years in the financial world at Zion's Bank and Edward Jones. She served in many capacities in the Sunset 4th Ward with some of them being 2nd Counselor in the Primary, Ward Librarian, Young Women's Advisory, Primary Chorister and Relief Society President. She loved singing, gardening, playing softball, bowling, quilting, bragging about her grandkids and visiting with friends. One of her most favorite things to do was to watch Weber State and BYU play football and basketball. She enjoyed supporting her children and grandchildren with their many activities from sports to dance to tumbling. You could always count on her cheering and letting everyone know that her "kid" was the best! In their retirement years Jerry and Dixie enjoyed visiting their winter home in Mesquite, Nevada and volunteering at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah where she spent countless hours quilting with her dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry, and her parents. She will be missed deeply by her family that she left behind: Children, Kelly Fishburn (Jennifer), Lane Fishburn (Alecia), Tracie Smith; 15 Grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter; Sisters Janet Barber (Jim), Kaye Spencer (Donald), Nancy Bench (Tom), Nadine Gass (Jerry), Brother Ronald Weatherston (Chrissy) and many nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held Monday, August 11, 2014 from 6-8 in the evening at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 S. 1900 W. and Tuesday morning from 9:30-10:30. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the Clinton Cemetery.

We wish to thank the many caregivers in the ICU at Davis Hospital and Dr. Abu Qare for taking such good care of her.

We love you mom and hope you are having a beautiful reunion with Dad. Till we meet again.
