Don Lewis Olsen Obituary (1927 - 2012)

BRIGHAM CITY - Don Lewis Olsen, a life long resident of Brigham City, Utah passed away February 13, 2012. He fought an undaunted battle with ALS having been diagnosed 23 years ago. Don was the son of Mary Jane Boothe and Lewis Martin Olsen, born April 5, 1927. After graduating from High School he married his sweetheart, Doris Louise Olsen on August 3, 1949. He held many jobs during their early marriage. Don and Doris then purchased Brigham Floral and Gift from Doris's parents in 1973. His talent for making stylized floral arrangements was soon recognized. He was invited to design at several floral associations competitions. He served as Director of the Brigham Chamber of Commerce for two terms. President of Kiwanis, President of Utah Florist Association, President of Idaho Florist Association, Director of North West Florist Association. Member of the Jaycees, Elks, Eagles and Brigham City Country Club. He received the Total Citizen Award from the Brigham City Chamber of Commerce in 1993. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Doris, April 1, 2008 his only sister Ada Olsen Shields. He leaves behind one son and two grandsons, Roger (Dani) Olsen, Snowville, UT; Jorn Lewis Olsen, Elko, NV; and Casey Thomas (Heidi) Olsen, Helper, UT. The family wishes to thank Dr. Thomas Hannum for the 50 plus years of care. To the many friends who have helped Dad, we are grateful and Thank You so much. Friends may visit family on Friday, February 24, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. at Myers Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary Chapel, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
