Dona Lenore Bertoch Green

CLINTON - Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother ended her mortal journey on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013 due to complications from renal cell carcinoma. She was surrounded by her husband, her children and her grandchildren as she peacefully returned to her loving Heavenly Father. She was 78 years old.

Dona was born on December 19, 1934 to Theda Eva Ney and Raymond Lachonius Bertoch, in Magna, Utah. She was the eldest child of 9 siblings, including a twin sister and 8 brothers. Her twin sister died at birth which left her as the only daughter. She was actively involved with her siblings throughout her life. She spent much of her younger life in Magna, Utah and Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from Cyprus High School.

She married the love of her life, Richard Hanks Green, on July 15, 1955. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City temple on November 14, 1955. She was the mother of 6 children, grandmother of 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Her family was the joy of her life and she found great happiness in spending time with them; especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sadly, Richard passed away in 1998. In 2007 she met and married a long-time friend Max L. Fife of Roy, Utah, happily adding 4 step-children, 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild to her already large family. She demonstrated her love for them all as she did her own children.

She worked for several years with Prudential Insurance Company in Salt Lake City. She was a secretary. She later worked at Hill Air Force Base, beginning her career as a secretary and retiring after 32 years from Hill Air Force Base as a procurement supervisor.

She was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many callings throughout her life: Primary, Young Women's Presidency, Relief Society Presidency and faithful visiting teacher. She and Richard diligently served a 3 year service mission at the LDS cannery in Ogden, Utah. She was an exemplary teacher and leader in her callings. She had a strong and faithful testimony of her Savior Jesus Christ and lived that testimony each and every day.

Our mother's hands were never idle and her numerous talents endlessly blessed the lives of others. She was never found without a crochet or knitting project. She loved to tole paint, to sew, to quilt and to read. She was also an excellent cook and enjoyed home gardening and canning. She was quick to share her knowledge with others and was often teaching these same talents to those around her. She spent hours with her friends at the Roy Senior Center and enjoyed their company. Her charity also enriched the lives of others as she was always willing to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Never a complaint would cross her lips regarding her own lot in life; however, she was the first to offer encouraging words to others to buoy them up. Mom, you are finally free to dance, dance, dance!
She is survived by her current husband, Max L. Fife of Clinton; son, Mark A. (Janet) Green, Pleasant View; son, Donald R. (Lori) Green, Clinton; daughter, Susan Manzanares, Clinton; son, Russell W. (Desiree) Green, Spring Hill, Kansas; son, Larry A. (Michele) Green, California City, California; and daughter, Kimberleigh (Gary) Tyler, Clinton; her step-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 42 years, Richard H. Green; and other siblings.
Through her unselfish love she was a perfect example of a wife and mother. She taught us how to work hard, to play and to be happy. She taught us to love learning and to enjoy the world around us. Her smile was the sunshine that lit up the room. All who knew Dona are richly blessed by the graceful and beautiful way in which she lived her life. We will always love you, Mom, and hold your special memories in our hearts forever.

The family wishes to express their sincere and utmost gratitude to the staff of the Huntsman Cancer Institute, including Dr. Randal, Dr. Carr, Dr. Bartline and the many other staff members that lovingly and beautifully cared for Dona at this time.
