Donald James Cunningham

NORTH OGDEN - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Donald J. Cunningham, 86, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 4, 2008. Donald was born February 28, 1922 to Leo and Marjorie Cunningham in St. Paul, Minnesota.

He married the love of his life, Donna Martinson on December 9, 1956.

He graduated from Chippewa Falls High School and attended Eau Claire State College, and received his Tool and Dye Apprenticeship.

He served his country in World War II and was a Navy Flight Instructor. One of his passions was flying his CB and Beach Bonanza airplanes.

He retired from Morton International and continued as a consultant with Autoliv. He was instrumental in design and development of automobile airbag technology and is named on numerous patents that the company holds.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ogden.

He loved spending time with his family on camping trips, hunting and fishing, and always seeking the royal flush.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Donna Cunningham; his children, Jay Cunningham (Christie), Jayme Allen (David), Don Cunningham (Decca), Jonathon Cunningham (Laura Ann), Scott Cunningham (Mercedes); 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers, Jack Cunningham and Richard Cunningham.

The family expresses their sincere gratitude to IHC Hospice Care, Carol, Shawn and RayLynn.

The family is holding a private memorial service.
