Donald Wayne Ellis - 1930-2017
Our humble, loving, kind, generous and grateful Dad and Grandpa, Donald Wayne Ellis returned to his Heavenly Father and Sweetheart on December 21, 2017.
Don was born in Grace Idaho to Charles Webber and Mabel Johanna Qualman Ellis on June 1, 1930, the oldest of 3 children. After his family moved to Tremonton Don attended Bear River High School where his love for sports was born, excelling in Baseball and Football. Later in his life he was selected along with his brother Boyd to coach and take an all-star baseball team to the Little World Series which was held in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
On August 4, 1949, Don married the love of his life Myrna Nelson in Perry, Utah and 1 year later eternalized that marriage in the Logan, Utah Temple.
Don and Myrna raised 3 children, Kenneth Donald, Kathryn and ViAnn. He and Myrna supported and cheered on their children and grandchildren at school activities, sporting events, piano and dance recitals, and enjoyed many camping and fishing trips with them.
Don was a master gardener and his green thumb was evident to all who would pass by seeing his beautiful and weed-free yard and garden. He loved working in his yard and was willing to share his love and knowledge with his beloved neighbors and family.
Don was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings over the past 87 years. Two of his favorite callings, which he mentioned often, were the 10 years he served as ward clerk while living in Pocatello, Idaho under the direction of three bishops and the 2-plus years doing Sealings with his Eternal Companion in the Ogden, Utah Temple.
He is survived by his 2 daughters ViAnn and Bonnie, son Neil, 10 wonderful grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and a very special sister Julia. He was preceded in death by his wife Myrna; son Kenny; daughter Kathy; father and mother; brothers Boyd and Gene; 2 grandchildren Miranda and Michael.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 in the 23rd Ward Church building (620 N. 300 E.) at 11:00 am. A viewing will be held Wednesday at Myers Mortuary from 6-8 pm and at the church prior to the service from 10:00 - 10:45 am.
Special appreciation to the many angels at Maple Springs Independent and Assisted Living, Access Hospice, faithful home teachers, neighbors and friends, and family members for the love and special care they showed this loving, gentle and kind man.
