Donald Jake Yazzie (Yaz)

Donald Yazzie passed away Nov. 22, 2015 of cancer. He was born on Jan. 28, 1957 in Ogden Utah to Donald Yazzie Sr. of Ogden and mother, Effie Ashley and step-father, Robert Kaye of St. Michaels AZ. He met the love of his life Loraine Johnson Fife in March of 2008.

Don was educated in the Ogden City Schools and attended Weber State and OWATC. He worked hard and accomplished much; what he chose to do he did with perfection. He loved learning new things and excelled in many. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

He was a SGT in the U.S. Army and was very proud to have served our country.

He loved camping, hiking, fishing and anything to do with nature. He also made jewelry and wall hangings.

He was very proud to be a full blood Native American of the Navajo Nation. He was more in tune with his Native American Heritage. He was born for the Black Streak Wood People and was born into the Water's Edge People Clan.

Don is survived by his wife, Loraine; his parents; his daughter, Sky LaDawn Yazzie and 4 step-children; 3 brothers, Anthony (Jill), Steve (Joann), Duane (Jacqueline) and 2 sisters, Patty Yazzie and Afton (Anthony) Jones; 11 step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He also has distant relatives throughout Arizona and New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and 1 niece.

Celebration of Life will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, Nov.25, 2015 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM with a Rosary at 7PM and Wednesday from 1 to 1:45 PM. Interment at Evergreen Memorial Park with Military Honors accorded.
