Donna Mae Wheeler Abrams

Layton - Donna Abrams passed away Saturday night, January 20, 2007, with her family by her side of causes incident to Alzheimer's disease. Donna was born March 14, 1933 in Salt Lake City, to Fred A. and Lizzie M. Wheeler, but lived most of her life in Layton. She attended Layton Elementary, North Davis Junior High, and graduated from Davis High in 1951. Donna also attended the University of Utah and BYU.

While working at Tanner Clinic, Donna met and married LaVar S. Abrams, who was the love of her life, in the Logan Temple. They moved to Monticello, Utah where they lived for nine years. Most of her life Donna worked as a medical transcriber. At the time of her retirement, she worked for Dr. David Warden in Kaysville, where she had been for many years. During her life, Donna had many accomplishments. She loved to sing and dance, ride horses, arrange flowers, draw, and paint, decorate, travel, and meet with friends.

Donna was President of the Girl's Association at Davis High, a member of the Layton Arts Council, and sang with the Layton Community Choir. She also held many church positions in the Ward and Stake. During her life, she made and kept many friends, who she thought of often. Donna was always willing to listen, never judging. She is survived by her children; Joni (Arlin) Scoffield, Jeffrey L. (Luann) Abrams, Julie (Steve) Erickson, 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and her sister Shirley Park. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Jean Layton.

The Family would like to thank Dean and Camille Bytendorp and Hospice of Lava Hot Springs, for caring for her the last few months.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 250 North Fairfield Road, Layton. Friends and family may meet on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and then one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Providence City Cemetery.
