Donna Lois (Patterson) Montgomery Obituary (1930 - 2021)

Donna Lois Montgomery April 30, 1930 - May 22, 2021 Donna Lois Montgomery passed away on Saturday, May 22nd of natural causes at the age of 91. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Duane, of over 69 years. They were high school sweethearts and were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on October 5, 1949. Donna was born on April 30, 1930 in a Wilson Lane, Utah home and raised on a farm in Clinton, Utah. She graduated from Davis High School in 1948. Donna lived most of her adult life in Roy, Utah. Donna was a homemaker who took immaculate care of her home. She was an incredible cook and prepared frequent family dinners and hosted birthday parties well into her seventies. She loved to bake from scratch and her homemade bread, pies, and individually wrapped cookies were second to none. Donna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who put the needs of her family above all else. Donna supported all of her children's activities by attending many dance recitals, football games, and bike races. As time passed, this continued as Donna attended all the grandkid's activities. Her home was the place for kids, grandkids, and their friends to hang out. She did all she could to support family and make them feel loved. She always tried bringing everyone together and made sure everyone was taken care of. Donna would always listen to everyone's concerns and be a source of comfort. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and taught several classes in Primary. Duane and Donna enjoyed family vacations with lots of trips to Yellowstone, Flaming Gorge, and Bear Lake. For each one, she spent many hours preparing and cooking food for all. Whenever Duane went hunting, she'd prepare meals in advance so that everyone could enjoy her delicious home cooked food. She loved going to the movies, and especially loved watching Harry Potter and Fast and Furious movies as often as she could. Despite not being a basketball fan, she still watched all the Utah Jazz Basketball games on tv with her husband. She also watched many Denver Bronco football games and cowboy/western movies for Duane. Her final years were spent in assisted living where Donna loved getting daily phone calls, cherished visits by family or escaping to family parties and playing with her great grandchildren. Donna was the favorite of many nurses, and known for her sweet, funny, yet feisty personality. Preceded in death by her husband Duane, sisters Beth Wallace and Shirley Oleson, and grandchild Jake King. Donna is survived by sister Renee Nelson, brother Bill Patterson (Sandy), brother Ray Patterson (Deanne), son Rick (Cindy), daughter Marsha King (Ron), son Mike (Cyndi) along with 9 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. A graveside service will he held on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, 1:00 PM at the Roy City Cemetery 5200 S 2300 W Roy, Utah.
