Donna Smoot

BRIGHAM CITY - Donna L. Morgan Smoot was born on November 6, 1935 in Mason City, Washington, the oldest daughter of Dorthea Jones and Max Morgan. She passed away peacefully on November 8, 2012 in Brigham City, Utah with her husband and family nearby.
She grew up in Box Elder County, attending Central Elementary and Box Elder Junior and High Schools. She worked as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell and later managed the Youth Shop clothing store.
She married Rulon L. Smoot on May 11, 1956 in the Logan Temple and together they raised their family in West Corinne, Utah.
She was a loving wife and mother and a caring, thoughtful grandmother. She was active in the LDS church and held many positions in Primary, YW, and Relief Society, served in the Hawaii Honolulu Mission with her husband, and was a member of Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was involved in the community, serving with County Dairy Wives, PTA, and local political committees. She was a recipient of the Farm Bureau Distinguished Service Award.
Survivors include husband, Rulon L. Smoot of Brigham City, Utah; daughters: Tammy (Roger) Greener, Cedar City, Utah; Kay (Dave) Hamlin, Fruitland, New Mexico; sons: Craig (Linda) Centerville, Utah; Kyle (Shauna) Perry, Utah; Brad (Holly) North Ogden, Utah; 21 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; sister Connie Craner and brothers: Deverell, Harvey, and Blynn Morgan. Preceded in death by her parents and many extended family members.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at the Brigham City West Stake Center, 895 North 625 West. Friends and family may call Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, or from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the Church.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
