Dora Mae was born January 2, 1925 in her parent's home in Mantua, Utah. She is the youngest of seven children born to Lucius Sorn and Maude Cresta Hansen.
She lived in Mantua all of her life.
Dora Mae attended Mantua Elementary School and graduated from Box Elder High School in 1944.
Dora Mae married the love of her life, Floyd J. Palmer, on September 14, 1944.
They were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on November 28, 1955. They have three children: Glenda (Russell) Port, Brigham City; Carolyn (John) Hurd, Mantua; and Melvern (Vauna) Palmer, Mantua.
For several years Dora Mae was employed as a cook for the school lunch program. She has won blue ribbons with her beautiful crochet work. Many of her creations have been of her own pattern and design. At the Senior Center she enjoyed friendships, making ceramics, and discovering her artistic talent with paint and brush. She loved the out-of-doors and was happiest when on a fishing stream, camping or riding her 4-wheeler on mountain trails. Many have said she would have made a perfect pioneer. Dora Mae has served in many church callings including visiting teacher, Young Women's and Primary presidencies, teacher in the auxiliaries, and Sunday School secretary. She and Floyd also worked in the extraction program for the church.
Dora Mae loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She has been their greatest support and has instilled in them eternal values and goals.
The family would like to thank the special Integrity Hospice nurses and aides, also Gables Care Center for the kindness and love given to our mother.
