Dora Leskow Petersen
CLINTON - Dora Leskow Petersen, 79, passed away April 16, 2012 peacefully at home. She was born March 6, 1933 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin to Ida Rosa Kopetzky and William Fredrick Leskow.
Dora was the second of four children. She spent many hours playing along the Mississippi River before moving to Utah on her ninth birthday. The family settled in Logan, Utah on a small farm where she gained a lifelong appreciation for hard work and self-reliance. She graduated from Logan High School. She went on to complete nursing school - and worked as a nurse for 40 years. She retired from Heritage Park Care Center in Roy, Utah after working there for 33 years.
She married the love of her life, Raynold J Petersen, on October 11, 1957 in the Logan Temple. They were married for 38 years until Dad's passing in 1996. We know they are having a joyous reunion. They were blessed with six children, five sons and one daughter. Mom and Dad have been residents of Clinton since 1960 and have enjoyed long and endearing friendships with the families they associated with for all those years.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings including a primary teacher, Relief Society secretary and Family History Specialist. She loved family history and doing temple work for her ancestors, and she frequently encouraged her family members to participate in this work. The year after Dad passed away she brought her beloved brother into her home and cared for him for the next 15 years. She was the epitome of charity and has left a legacy of service. Quilting was a favorite hobby and she has made many beautiful quilts for family members. Giving quilts to family brought joy to her and was a treat for those who received them.
She is survived by her children Michael Ray Petersen (Carolyn), Donald H Petersen (Sheri), Ronald W Petersen (Stacie), Gary L Petersen (Carolyn), Kathy V Craig (Robyn 'Biz'), and Bruce J Petersen (Brenda). She is also survived by one sister Judith Marion (Ralph) Kraus and one brother-in-law Dr. C. James Graham. She has 28 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren with 3 on the way.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister Elizabeth Ida Graham, a brother William Joseph Leskow, and two grandchildren.
The family would like to thank her caring friends, neighbors, ward members, home teachers and so many more that have always watched over her.
