Doris Allen Monsen

Washington Terrace - Doris Allen Monsen 90, died of causes incident to age Wednesday August 15, 2018. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren.
Doris was born March 22, 1928 to John Henry Allen and Elfie Woolsey Allen in Ogden UT and lived in Ogden and Washington Terrace her entire life. On June 29, 1950 she married her sweetheart Gale Boykin Monsen, a union that would last 54 years until his passing in 2004. Their marriage was sealed for Time and all Eternity on August 22, 1971in the Ogden Utah Temple.
Doris was a faithful and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held many callings throughout her life including, primary and relief society president. Her favorite calling ever was preparing the weekly sacrament meeting program where each week would include, not only a scripture, but also inspiring stories of the church ranging from sports to current events and holidays.
She had many hobbies and activities including golf, camping with her husband and cross-stitching many beautiful renditions of famous paintings and landmarks. She was a professional and expert seamstress, creating beautiful quilts, hundreds of dresses for her daughters and grandchildren and even suits, coats and shirts for the men in the family.
Mom leaves behind a loving family including a son Scott (Dana), daughters Debbie (Gordon) Eckersley and Shelley. She also has nine grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, three brothers, a sister her husband and a daughter-in-law.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 22, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints chapel located at 4855 S. 300 W., Washington Terrace. Friends and family may call Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 pm and Wednesday from 9:45-10:45 am at the same location.
