Dorit Schenck Dittmore Obituary (1923 - 2014)

Dorit Schenck Dittmore July 13, 1923-June 18, 2014 ROY - Dorit Schenck Dittmore passed away June 18, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Dorit was born July 13, 1923, on a ranch in Sage Creek, Utah, 10 miles north of Randolph, Utah. She was the ninth child of Oscar Lorenzo Schenck and Hannah Luella Conley. She attended Randolph schools and graduated from South Rich High School. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Ogden, Utah where she met a handsome soldier and fell in love. Dorit married Calvin R. Dittmore on August 17, 1951. Mom once said that "it took a long time for him to find me." They happily spent the next 63 years together. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on November 26, 1963. Their family settled in Roy, Utah where they raised their three children. Over the years Dorit worked at Hill AFB, Defense Depot Ogden, IRS and Max Factor, but said that the most satisfying job was being a wife and mother. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions. Throughout her life, Dorit was active in many social groups and organizations - Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Double J Square Dance Club and "Club" (started by a group of girl friends from Woodruff and Randolph). Dorit and Calvin also enjoyed playing cards every week with their "Wal-mart card playing group." Over the years Dorit and Calvin enjoyed traveling and spending many winters in Yuma, Arizona. Dorit is survived by her husband Calvin, daughter Debbie (Gary) Bennett, sons Doyle (Laura) Dittmore and Darron (Linda) Dittmore. She is also survived by nine grandchildren who adored her and 15 A 1/2 great-grandchildren who loved their "Grandma D." She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters-Stella Curtis, Zella Green, Ann Taylor, brothers-Lyman Schenck, Harvey Schenck, Rex Schenck, Guy Schenck, and Albert Conley Schenck. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 23, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Roy North Park Stake Center, 4250 South 2175 West, Roy. Friends and family may call on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West., Roy, and Monday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.
