Dorothy Mae (Clemmons) Green Obituary (1925 - 2019)

Born Dorothy Mae Clemmons (Dottie) on December 17, 1925 in Whistler, Alabama to the union of David and Helen Mary Clemmons (both deceased). She had one brother, David Clemmons Jr. (deceased). She made her confession to God at the young age of 12 years old. Her education years thru 12 grade were in Mobile, AL. She graduated from Stillman Jr. College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Dottie was a member of the Mount Olive AME Zion Church in Prichard, AL. Dottie married Felix M. Vaughn (Deceased). To that union she had three children: Annie H. Mason, Felix Vaughn and David Vaughn. She was employed at Brookley AFB in Mobile, AL for a number of years until she was transferred to Olmsted AFB in Harrisburg, PA. She worked there until the base phased out and she was transferred to Hill AFB in Clearfield, UT. She later became a member of Embry Chapel AME Church in Ogden, UT and was faithful in her church service as a Missionary and as a Steward. She later met Jerry Green and they were married in 1974. Dottie received many awards from her church and from her employment at Hill AFB like the Zero Defense Awards: Bronze, Silver and Gold. She received appreciation letters and monetary awards. She retired from Hill AFB after 38 years of service as a Civil Servant Supply Specialist. After she became ill, she was mostly home bound but still enjoyed entertaining her family and friends. She loved working crossword puzzles, reading a good book and sightseeing. She passed away at the Stonehenge of Ogden at the age of 93. She is being mourned by her husband of 45 years, Jerry Green; her daughter, Annie H. Mason; her two sons: Felix M. Vaughn III and David V. (Monica) Vaughn; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; along with many cousins and friends. Her home going celebration will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah 84404. A Viewing for family and friends will be held prior to the service from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Interment in Myers Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 N. Monroe Blvd., Ogden, Utah.
