Dorothy Lou Bates Holmes Obituary (1935 - 2008)

Dorothy Lou Bates Holmes WEST HAVEN - Dorothy Lou Bates Holmes, 72, died April 26, 2008 in West Haven. She was born June 1, 1935 in Provo, Utah to Daniel Hyrum and Mary Ellen Skinner Bates. She married Robert (Bob) William Holmes in the Logan LDS Temple July 17, 1953. Dorothy was a member of the Wilson 2nd Ward and enjoyed her work in the library, Primary and Relief Society. She was devoted to her sweetheart Bob, daughters and grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening and her flowers, especially her roses. She is survived by her husband Bob; daughters Mona (Blake) Bennington, Karla (Brad) Rickards, Tamra (Rex) Tunbridge, Nanette Holmes and Conie (Allen) Krall; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and her brother Melvin (Gladys) Bates. Also survived by in-laws Kate Bates, Janice Bates, Harvey Lunceford; Jolene (Dean) Wood. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; five sisters and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary of Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd., where friends may call prior to the service from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interment will be at the Ogden City Cemetery.
