Dorothy Elaine Glenn Stokes, 91, died peacefully January 15, 2012 in Brigham City, Utah. Daughter of Israel Lund Glenn and Mary Griffiths Hutchison Glenn, she was born October 6, 1920 in Brigham City, Utah. She married Vernon Leon Stokes March 12, 1941, and they were sealed in the Logan Temple in 1944. She and Vernon lived in Pocatello, Idaho; Mantua, Utah, and Huntington Park, California, but spent the majority of their lives in Brigham City.
Active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Enjoyed genealogy research, temple work, serving in Primary, Relief Society, Ward Library, Cub Scouts, and was a faithful visiting teacher. Dorothy and Vernon served an endowment mission at the Ogden Temple.
Dorothy was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She devoted her life to her family and always enjoyed being with them. She loved backyard barbecues, homemade ice cream, camping trips, and hauling wood. Dorothy treasured her sweetheart, Vernon, her children, and being a homemaker. She was a true and devoted friend to many.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Gordon L. (Susan) Stokes, Riverton, WY; Richard A. Stokes, Brigham City, UT; Anita (George Dee) Bankhead, St. Louis, MO; Randal G. Stokes, Vernal, UT; Deann (David) Hirschi; Dean (Tereasa) Stokes; Susan (Daniel) Scothern, all of Brigham City, UT; her sister, Ivy Dameron, Salt Lake City, UT. She has 35 grandchildren, 94 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; son, Dale; great-grandson, Zane; two brothers and two sisters.
Special thank you to all those who work at Maple Springs for the love and kindness shown to our dear mother.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Central Ward Chapel, 506 South 200 East, Brigham City. Friends may call Friday 6 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, and Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 at the church. Interment in the Brigham City Cemetery.
