Dorothy Boekweg Van Meeteren Click here to listen to Funeral Recording St. George - Dorothy Boekweg Van Meeteren, born June 7, 1916, has just thrown away her walker and put on her running shoes to race to the arms of her honey, Henry Van Meeteren; her daughter, Dorothy Elaine (Robert) Stevens; her parents, Geert Boekweg, Renske Niewswaag; her granddaughter, McKenzie Van Meeteren; her grandson, Kash (Julia) Van Meeteren; great-granddaughters, Cassadee Cox and Olivia Fuller; great-grandsons, Michael and Danny Ritchie; great-great-grandson, Bennett Day. Her sisters, Peka (Harm) Kapp, Minnie (Lloyd) Carter and Henske Buckway; her brothers, George (Maria) Boekweg and Cecil (Norma) Boekweg. What a Reunion! If you knew her and called her Mom, you are Karen (McKay) Fuller, Henry Clair (Shaunna) Van Meeteren, Dale (Carol) Van Meeteren and Jedd (Jolene) Van Meeteren. If you knew her and called her Grandma Van, there are 94 of you and she worked and fussed all year to have her annual "Grab bag Party" at Christmas time and you could expect a valentine on Valentine's day with a dollar in it and an "UGLY QUILT" quilt when you married. It was so much fun to give her a present; she always made a big expression of gratitude that made you feel like you had really done something. She was a very grateful person, and recognized her blessings. If you knew her and called her Aunt Dorothy, there are a lot of you who loved her and visited her. If you knew her and called her a friend you were close to her and could expect A Mormon Tupperware full of soup and some hot bread, usually delivered by one of her grandkids. You may have known her as the School Lunch Lady at North Ogden Elementary and Ben Lomond Elementary for about 20 years. You may have known her as the cook at Ben Lomond Stake Girls Camp. You may have known her as Laurel Leader or a 4H leader. If you knew her, you loved her and she loved you. And if you knew her, you knew that she knew the Savior and loved him and followed his command. If you were close enough to her, you knew she prayed every day for an opportunity to serve her fellow being. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 7, 2012 at the North Ogden 2nd Ward, 770 E. 2100 N. A viewing will be held Sunday, May 6th at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.
