Dorothy Ruth Parkin Waite
"Together Again"
West Point
Our beautiful, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother is finally with her eternal companion Sherman, on December 23, 2017 at the age of 88. She was born July 5, 1929 to loving parents Lloyd Winegar Parkin and Ruth Ione Butler in Bountiful, Utah at the home of her Aunt Reeve [her mom Ruth's twin sister] Ruth and Reeve were nurses. She grew up in Bountiful and attended schools at Stoker Elementary, Bountiful Jr., and Davis High where she met, dated, fell in love and married Sherman Barnes Waite. They were married for Time and all Eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on September, 1, 1948. Their love of music brought them together. She played violin and piano, he played trombone and guitar. They both loved to sing and dance. She was an avid seamstress and cook. She worked as a teller at Clearfield State Bank/Wells Fargo until retiring. After marrying she learned that Sherman had Muscular Dystrophy and she would become a dedicated caregiver until his death at 86. She really did stand by him through thick and thin.
They resided in West Point, Utah on the Waite family farm where they built their home and raised their children Lloyd and Janelle. Nothing was more important to her than her children, her greatest blessing. She often voiced amazement of how 2 children could give her 7 grandchildren and 25 great - grandchildren.
Her greatest heartache was losing her son, Lloyd to cancer at the age of 60.
She is survived by her dedicated daughter and caregiver, Janelle [Keith] Stratford, Layton; loving daughter-in-law, Karen Waite, Syracuse. Grandchildren: Jill [Doug] Morrill, West Haven; Steven [Stacey] Waite, Syracuse; Stacy [RJ] Martin, Clinton; Deanne [Dan] Jacob, Clinton; Brian [Brittany] Stratford, Centerville; Melanie [Tyler] Wangsgard, Mountain Green; Shane [Kenzie] Stratford, Kaysville, and 25 amazing great-grandchildren, who brought her great joy. Sister-in-law, Carma Sedgwick, Twin Falls, Id., ArDeanne [Sid]Yeates, California; Sharone Belnap, Hooper and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Darrell, son Lloyd, and husband Sherman, brothers and sister in laws.
We want to thank A Step Forward/Inspiration Hospice, especially Sherry (her bud), neighbors and ward members for their loving support of Mom.
