Douglas Drake

–

South Ogden, Utah

On June 4, 2024, our beloved Douglas Arnold "Doug" Drake, born on November 26, 1955, slipped the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God. Born and raised in Ogden, UT, Douglas lived a life that was as expansive and unforgettable as his charismatic personality. In every chapter of his life, he brought an undeniable spark of joy, humor, and compassion that left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. His witty nature and infectious laughter were the sunshine in our lives, and his humility was the gentle rain that nourished our spirits.
A man of many talents, Doug was a retired construction worker who left a lasting impression on his community through his dedicated work. He was a masterful craftsman who carefully and diligently shaped structures with the same humor and charisma that he shaped lives. The same hands that held dominos and playing cards during joyful evenings with friends, also held the fishing rod that he loved so much. As an avid bike rider, he enjoyed the open road and the thrill of the wind rushing past him. He also held a deep appreciation for classic cars, spending countless hours restoring and admiring these magnificent machines.
Douglas was a Christian, living his life with grace, love. Patience and gentleness.
He is survived by his son, Douglas "DJ" Long Jr. sisters, Bertha Elliott, Delores Hill and Ada Gillis, three grandchildren, Marquis Asani and Nua' Mayah and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sherry Drake, and his dear mother, Katherine Drake and his brother, Anthony "Tony" Long.
A celebration of Doug's life will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 11 am at Myers Mortuary 845 Washington Blvd. Ogden, where a viewing will be held prior to the services from 10-11 am. Internment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Blvd., Ogden, Utah.
