Doyle A. Rasmussen

On September 23, 2014 Dad joined his sweetheart after a short illness. Doyle Adolph Rasmussen was born November 25, 1931 to Adolph Hans Rasmussen and Mabel Irene Stevens Rasmussen in Brigham City, UT. He spent his childhood in Corinne, UT. On a blind date he met his sweetheart Carolyn Thompson. They were married June 4, 1951 in the Logan, UT LDS Temple. She passed away January 2012.
Dad spent many years driving truck. He drove for Roches, Al Pally, EA Millers, Robisons, and Consolidated Freightways. His career took them from Corinne to Brigham, Hyrum, Flagstaff, Arizona and finally to Henderson, Nevada where they retired.
Dad loved the outdoors. He loved to explore by taking the back roads when he traveled. Often he would say he wanted to see what was on the other side of the mountain. We spent a lot of time camping with Mom and Dad. Dad loved to cook in the Dutch oven, and we never knew what he was going to create. A lot of time was also spent on their boat at both Hyrum Dam and Lake Powell. The last few years we have able to spent time with him in San Diego, where he loved to sit on the beach and watch the sunset.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn, son Neil, daughter Noreen and great- grandson Quinten Andersen. Also his parents and sister Ilene Richards.
He is survived by his children Catherine (Russ) Larsen, Smithfield, UT; Sherrie (Mark) Andersen, Nibley, UT; Dawna (Jeff) Clawson, Hyrum, UT; Scott (Debbie) Rasmussen, Clarkdale, AZ; and Sandra (Perri) Reisner, Henderson, NV. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren and one soon to be born.
Services will be Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Mortuary.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
