Duane Kimball Phippen

Duane Kimball Phippen passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019 in Brigham City, UT. He was born on May 24, 1931 in McMinnville, OR, son of Kimball and Nancy Phippen.
He attended school in Preston, Idaho. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Duane attended and graduated from Utah State University with a bachelor's degree in Physics. He was a Quality Engineer for Thiokol for 30 years.
Duane enjoyed building and built storage bays after he retired, traveling, water and snow skiing, scouting, playing the trombone, singing in the Barber Shop Quartet, math, camping, river running, reading and the Gospel. He was a member of the Sons of Utah Pioneers. Above all, he enjoyed being with his family and doing fun things with them. He was named Barber Shopper of the year in 2001.
Duane had a great sense of humor to the end. "Grandpa's are Good Guys!" He taught this phrase to each of his grandchildren.
Survived by his wife, Julia; children: Kristine, DeAnn (Brent) Cagle, David (Debbie), Kenneth (Tina), and Curtis Collins; 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Zola Mae Lott, Qwendolyn Lott, Karol Lou Anderson; brother, Donald Phippen; daughter, Carrie Collins and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Brigham City 15th Ward, 203 N. 200 W., Brigham City, UT. Viewings will be Thursday, February 21, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT and Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Church prior to the funeral services.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans from Box Elder County.
