Dylan Thomas Strebel
OGDEN - Dylan was born to Darren and Amy (Wakefield) Strebel on October 6, 2005. He passed away from complications associated with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA-Type 1) on May 1, 2006. We were very blessed to have this bright-eyed, beautiful, brave boy in our lives, even for just a few short months. We will miss your sweet smiles, expressive, wise eyes, and your peaceful nature. Thank you for teaching us that life is not measured in the breaths you take, but in the moments that take your breath away.
A beautiful boy, a gift from above,
His easy-going nature made him so easy to love.
With his bright eyes and smile so sweet,
We knew that our lives were now complete.
But this little boy, so alert and alive,
Was born with a condition that he couldn't survive.
His time was too short, just measured in days,
But Dylan's life has blessed us in so many ways.
He was put to a test that he passed without a doubt,
Dylan showed many of us what true love is all about.
It is not about things that money can buy,
It's about giving yourself so completely and not asking why
Our hearts are broken now that he is gone,
But inside our hearts, he will always live on.
Dylan is survived by his parents, his big "sissy" Gabrielle, his Nana Mary Wakefield Hargis (Kay), his Gramma and Papa Darrel and Helen Strebel, his grandpa Paul Wakefield and "Charma" Charlene Massing, his favorite aunt Annette Strebel, his uncle Daniel Strebel and family. He is also survived by his "GrandWa's" Ann and Jerry Walters.
Dylan was preceded in death by his uncle Derek Wakefield.
His family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Primary Children's, particularly Dr. Stevenson, Dr. Swoboda, Abby and Amber. We would also like to thank Dr. Stokes and Jill, Marcus and Asillin at IHC Hospice for their support. His family would like to express special thanks for the love and support they received from co-workers at AOL, their friends at Xi Alpha Omicron, and First Presbyterian Church, particularly to Rev. Dr. Richard Minnich for his unfailing faith and guidance. Our heartfelt gratitude to all our friends and family for their support and love.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made through a fund the family has established in Dylan's name, at SummitOne Credit Union (formerly McKay Dee CU). For more information on SMA or to make a contribution for a cure, please visit www.fsma.org.
