Earl Danny Smith

Surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home, Danny Smith, age 73 drew his last breath in the late night of July 3, 2016.

Danny was born August 10, 1942 in Des Moines, Iowa to Robert and Donna Smith. He grew up in St. Anthony, Idaho. He has 3 siblings, Rob, Ginger and Linda.
Danny and Linda married on June 25, 1964. Danny accepted a position with the U.S. Forest Service in 1969. He moved his family to Utah where they raised their three children. They just celebrated 52 years of marriage.

He retired from the U.S. Forest Service in 2008, after 44 1/2 years. Danny loved exploring and 4-wheeling the remote regions of the Utah desert with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Linda, son J. Colby, daughter Stacia Covington (Theo) and his grandchildren Sierra, Brooklyn, Madison and Emie, son Brandon (Misti) and his grandchildren Cade and Ashton.

Danny was loved by everyone who interacted with him. He had a charm that was both sharp and deep. He always treated everyone equal and felt compelled to stand up for the underdog. His absence will be felt with great sadness.

Graveside: Friday, July 8th at Teton Newdale Cemetery, Sugar City, Idaho at 11:00 am.
Memorial: Monday, July 11th at Lomond View Gardens, 304 W Pleasant View Dr. Pleasant View, Utah 6:00 pm

Instructions to the graveside: Take I-15 from Utah all the way to Idaho Falls
At Idaho Falls take exit 119 for US-20 E toward Rigby/W Yellowstone
Turn right onto US-20 E (continue about 31 miles)
Take exit 339 toward ID-33 E/Driggs/Jackson
Turn right onto 9th North/ID-33 E (about 8 minutes)
Turn right onto N 5000 E/Moody Rd (about 1 mile)
Turn left onto E 3000 N/Teton Cemetery Rd (about .6 mile)

The family would like to express their gratitude and sincere thanks to all the medical professionals involved in the care of Danny over the last 2 1/2 years.

We would also like to extend very special and heartfelt thanks to all our friends for the help and support through Danny's courageous battle.
