Edith (Sally) Robb Gorman Obituary (1911 - 2012)

Edith (Sally) Robb Gorman Ogden - On March 6, 2012, our loving mother/grandmother/aunt passed away peacefully at her home with her family at her side. Sally was born as Edith Rose Ainsworth, the first of two children, on April 18, 1911, in Grand Junction, Colorado, to Charles G. and Jeanette Alcott Ainsworth. She was reared and educated in Colorado but has resided in Ogden, Utah, at the same house on 13th Street for over 70 years. She married Alfred Scott Robb on November 23, 1932. He passed away in March 1948. On August 9, 1952, she married Lawrence James Gorman. He passed away in February 1985. Sally retired from federal civilian service in 1962 after a career at the Ogden Arsenal and Utah general Depot. She received many awards during her federal service. She was a member of the National Active & Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary. Throughout her life her defining characteristic was her loving, caring and positive attitude. She was always willing to help those in need and saw the good in everyone. She had a very kind and generous nature and always had a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face. The focus of her life was her family and she was proud to be called mom, grandma or aunt. Her talents/activities were many and included crocheting, painting, bowling, playing cards at her ladies club or with family and above all moving furniture in her house on an almost daily basis. She also loved to read and bragged that she read a book a week. One of her proudest accomplishments was living to be 100, the many acknowledgements she received and being able to attend the governor's centenarian luncheon. She very much enjoyed relating stories of her experiences in the early 1900's. She is survived by her son, Leonard (Judy) Robb; 3 daughters-in-law, Shirley Gorman, Nashville Tennessee; Tammy Sanders, Sterling, Colorado; Anna Marie Gorman, Grand Junction, Colorado; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Sally was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Grace; 2 spouses, Alfred Scott Robb and Lawrence J. (Bus) Gorman; 2 sons, Richard D. Gorman and Stanley J. Gorman. A special thanks to her home companions and caregivers, Mary and Mae, and a special thanks to all the people at Advocate Hospice and especially to Debi, Ellie, Misty, Mike, Rex, Dr. Biddulph and all who helped in her last days. Well, she has moved her last furniture on this earth but I guarantee she is up there getting things moved around. We love you mom/grandma/aunt. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 12, 2012, at 1 pm at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. with a viewing prior to services from 11:30 to 12:45. Interment North Ogden Cemetery.
