Charles Edward Gardner, Jr.

Charles Edward “Ed” Gardner, Jr., age 89, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at home in North Ogden, Utah. Born on Friday, September 18, 1936, in Douglas, Arizona, Ed lived a life grounded in hard work, faith, and a love of family.

From 1956 to 1958, Ed served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Toronto/Ontario Canadian Mission. His dedication to his faith remained a guiding principle throughout his life.

On May 29, 1959, Ed married Janice Bingham in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Their union marked the beginning of a 67 year journey devoted to each other and family.

They raised nine children: Gayle O'Toole, Karen Buhler, Robin (Dave) Storey, Jolynn (Brant) Taylor, Lisa (Brent) Waddoups, Keith (Sherrie), Dan (Lisa), Brett (Emilie), and their late son Darryl. Ed’s legacy continues through his 29 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great great grandchild on the way.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Corrinne Gardner; brothers, Howard, Marvin, and Allan; sisters-in-law, Zilpha and Loni; his son, Darryl; and son-in-law, Mike O'Toole.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, September 19th, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:45 am with his funeral service to follow at 11:00 am at the LDS church located at 787 East 1700 North, North Ogden. He will be laid to rest at Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden.
