Ogden - Effie Louise Simpson Furniss, the foundation of our family, passed away October 2, 2012. Effie was born August 18, 1926 in Ogden, Utah the daughter of Adriana E. Dankers and Robert J. Simpson. She graduated from Ogden High School. Effie married the love of her life, Kenneth B. Furniss, in 1943 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Even though Kenneth preceded her in death, Effie celebrated their 69th anniversary this year.

Effie worked for Mt. Bell (later AT&T) for 43 years. She was a member of the AT&T Pioneer Club. She was an avid bowler and golfer and Effie loved to shop. She was also an avid Siamese cat lover.

Effie was known for her sense of humor, was always quick with a joke and putting people in their place.

Effie is survived by 2 of her 4 children, Bonnie (Ron) Van Ausdal and Bill Furniss; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Roberta (Roy) West.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters, Jean, Ruth and Marie and two children, Lynda and Kent.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. Friends may call on Friday, October 5th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
