Elda ''Tootsie'' Hollingsworth Oldham Obituary (1930 - 2002)

ELDA 'TOOTSIE' HOLLINGSWORTH OLDHAM ROY - Elda Hollingsworth Oldham, 71, passed away at home on February 13, 2002 after a short struggle with cancer. Born on November 10, 1930 in Grace, Idaho to Newell and Avilda Harris Hollingsworth. She was the oldest of ten children and a great help to her mother. she was given the nickname of Tootsie by her Grandma Harris and was called that by her mother, father, brothers and sisters ever since. She married Franklin 'Dick' Oldham on August 23, 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He impressed her by taking her to his family on their very first date. They lived most of their life together in Lompoc, California. Her sweetheart passed away July 17, 1981. Family and home have always been the most important things in her life. She provided day care in her home for almost 25 years. She always enjoyed small children and gave them a lot of love while also being at home for her own three children. She moved to Roy, Utah in 1993 to be closer to her mother and sisters and found much enjoyment being near them. Elda enjoyed the simple things in life like fixing meals for her family, working in her yard; reading historical novels or visiting places she had read about and had a great respect for her pioneer heritage. Whe loved having lunches with her sisters and nieces, going swimming together and keeping alive the tradition of a special family card game. She never put anything, career hobby, or personal desires above or before her family. She added great stability to our lives and taught us the things that matter most. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a nursery leader and visiting teacher and loved going to Sunday school. Her children Karen (Max) Crozier and Alan Oldham of Roy, Utah and Susan (Christopher) Lorge of Canton, Michigan survive her. Her brothers Newell J. Hollingsworth of Sunnyvale, California, Bud H. (Linda) Hollingsworth of Preston, Idaho and David E. (Gayla) Hollingsworth of Smithfield, Utah will also miss her. Janet (Richard) Towne of Brentwood, California, Darla (Steven) Hatch of plain City, Utah, Joy (Holger) Sass of Ogden, Utah, Betty (Jay) Campbell of Farr West, Utah will greatly miss their association with their sister, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren also survive her and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents one brother and one sister.
