North Ogden, Utah
Eleanor Hettig, a radiant soul, and the epitome of resilience and grace, was born on February 6, 1940, and passed on November 1, 2024. She lit up the lives of everyone she met and her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Eleanor, a short-time resident of North Ogden, Utah, was previously from Ormond Beach, Florida and recently moved to Utah to be closer to family and the care she had come to need.
Originally from Santa Barbara, CA, Eleanor was known for her generosity, and zest for life. She was also known to those who knew her personally by her nickname of Ellie. Family called her Nonni.
As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Eleanor truly succeeded by this measure, leaving a profound impact on the lives she touched.
Eleanor had a passion for exploring and embraced the world with open arms. Her travels took her to far corners of the globe, each journey providing her with a rich tapestry of experiences that she cherished deeply. Her favorite stories to share were those of the diverse cultures she encountered, the unique landscapes she witnessed, and the connections she made with people from all walks of life. Eleanor's spirit of adventure was contagious, and she had a knack for painting vivid pictures with her words that allowed those around her to live vicariously through her travels.
In her career at Westinghouse, Eleanor was as dedicated and diligent as they come. Her work ethic was unmatched and she retired after close to 30 years with a record of exceptional service. But the true essence of Eleanor was found in the way she lived her life outside of her career. She was a beacon of love, and her kindness was her most commendable quality. She loved unconditionally, and never missed an opportunity to lend a helping hand. Her life was a testament to the words of Mother Teresa, "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." Eleanor did countless small things with great love and in doing so, she achieved greatness.
The perfect example of Eleanor's kindness and love of helping others was when she moved to Florida she volunteered for the Red Cross for over 15 years. She would help during and after hurricane's by assisting people who needed guidance in their most vulnerable times in life.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents Louis A. Lopez and Emilie D. Lopez.
Eleanor is survived by her brothers Stanley A. (Che) Lopez, and Daniel V. (Elizabeth) Lopez and numerous nieces and nephews.
We invite those who were touched by Eleanor's life to share their memories and upload photos to her memorial page. Let us honor her legacy by remembering the joy she brought into our lives, the lessons she taught us, and the love that she shared so freely. Her spirit lives on in each of us, a constant reminder that a life well lived is a life filled with love and kindness.
