Elizabeth Batten

OGDEN - On Sunday, April 28, 2002, our beloved Elizabeth, crossed the "Great Divide" to be with her Lord and Savior.

Elizabeth Mae Batten was born to James and Rosa Farmer on May 24, 1922 in Neosho, MO. Elizabeth joined a family of two brothers and two sisters. She was raised on a farm and spent much of her younger days amongst orchards and the bounty of land worked by her family.

Elizabeth graduated from Higginsville High in 1941 in Higginsville, MO. Immediately after graduation she moved to Ogden during war times where she worked in the government offices.

She was married to Monte Christensen for eight years from 1942 to 1950. Of this union they were blessed with a daughter, Patty Christensen (1946 to 1970). She was then married to James Batten for 18 years from 1950 to 1968. Of this union they were blessed with a son James Batten (1951 to 1998).

Elizabeth graduated from nursing school with honors at Weber State College in 1943 as well as graduated from Stevens Henager College in 1944 as an office assistant.

Elizabeth worked in McKay-Dee Hospital's nursing unit for 20 years from 1944 to 1964 and at St. Benedict's Hospital for 15 years from 1964 to 1979. She then worked in home nursing beyond her retirement years. Many people call our beloved "blessed" for her many blessings she bestowed upon all she encountered.

Elizabeth has left behind many dear loved ones, Bobbie McQueen and family, Dianne and Ed Anderson, the residents of Golden Link Manor, the Senior Citizens group, and the health care community both past and present.

Elizabeth was met at heaven's gate by her Lord Jesus Christ and her beloved children as well as precious friend Sallie Topps of whom she provided care for 12 to 13 years.

Elizabeth instilled the love for our Heavenly Father and His righteous ways in her every action to everyone she met.
