Elizabeth Sevison

–

Brigham City, Utah

With hearts full of both gratitude for our mother's life and sorrow for her departure, we announce the passing of Elizabeth Franklin Blossom Sevison, a woman loved by all, who had a deep love for her family and the Savior. She was born in Island Creek Township, Duplin County, North Carolina on February 22, 1933, the second oldest child of William Blossom Jr. and Harriet Frances Boney. Elizabeth, known by everyone as Betty, passed to the other side of the veil on April 3, 2024, in Brigham City, Utah, at her home.
Betty, for the better part of her youth, grew up in Rocky Point, North Carolina. Her mother and father divorced when Betty was young, and Betty became responsible for the care of her younger siblings while her mother worked. Betty met her husband, Jack Sevison, Sr., in Homestead, Florida. Jack was in the United States Air Force, and he and Betty moved with their family several times until Jack retired from the Air Force in Marquette, Michigan. They had been searching for a place to call home once they retired, and one of Betty's dear friends, Bernice Earl, invited them to come to Brigham City. In 1973 they moved to Brigham City, Utah where they lived until 1977 when they moved to Ammon, Idaho for Jack's work. They spent 5 years there but were missing their Utah home and moved back to Brigham City in 1982. They eventually bought a home right next to the house where they had lived before in the 13th ward.
Betty was a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a faithful member and her faith never wavered. When she lived in the "mission field" she held more than one position at a time. Through the years she held many callings in the Relief Society, Mutual and Primary. She was loved by all who knew her. Betty was a quilter and joined a quilters club. Her quilt creations were stunning. She loved reading and joined a book club later in life. She helped build the family's food storage, tended to a vegetable garden, canned, and sewed for the family. Betty loved Genealogy. She and Jack would take trips all over the country to record information from family headstones and delve into the myriad of public records. Betty corresponded with distant relatives, and she gave and received information to help in genealogical pursuits. The relatives were of a different faith, but it didn't matter to Betty.
Betty is survived by her son, Mark Pfeiffer, her daughter Teresa Eames (Richard), her son Jack Richard Sevison, Jr (Jay), her son Alan Sevison, and her daughter, Erica Giles (Brian). She is survived by 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Frances Bowen and Lynda Crowley, and a brother Nels Andersen (Lea).
Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack Sevison, her brothers, Chris Blossom and Anthony "Buddy" Blossom, a sister, Mary Anna Bessellieu, and two nieces, Christianne Crowley, and Frances Bessellieu.
Her loss is felt deeply by her loved ones and friends, but her memory will continue.
The family gives special thanks to Betty's friends who took primary care of her as she aged, Anita Wilson-Cash, Heidi Rathbone, and Melissa Pratt and many friends of the Brigham City 13th and Forest Hills Ward. The family is also thankful to Aegis Hospice and Dr. Lynn Beard for their care and service.
