Elizabeth "Betsy" MacKenzie Stein passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Oct. 31, 2014. She was born Dec. 16, 1967 in Ogden, Utah the daughter of Malcolm Alexander and Lynda E. Iverson MacKenzie.

Betsy was a loving and compassionate person who enjoyed helping others. She owned her own daycare and loved being around children. She also enjoyed volunteering at the YCC, Deaf and Blind School, Boys and Girls Club and Hospice. She had a special gift and passion for helping others.

She married Joey Stein on Dec. 30, 2006. They opened "Steinys" Restaurant in 2010 where she was instrumental in helping establish the business. Betsy made many lifelong friends by always making them feel welcome, comfortable and loved. Her biggest joys in life were spending quality time with her grandchildren as they were the light of her life.

She is survived by her husband, Joey; daughters, Cassidy (Michael) Johnson, Lacy Reed; grandsons, Bryzick Johnson, Deklen Johnson; granddaughter, Kambri Johnson; mother, Lynda MacKenzie; 2 brothers, Bryan (Becky) MacKenzie, Robert (Teresa) MacKenzie; sister, Malynda Mackenzie and mother-in-law, LeAnn Stein. She was preceded in death by her father, Malcolm Mackenzie; brother, Scott MacKenzie; grandparents and her father-in-law, Joseph C. Stein.

In Betsy's name donations may be made to Hospice for Utah in lieu of flowers.

A Celebration of Betsy's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 4 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday prior to the service from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Following services on Wednesday the family wishes to continue celebrating at Steiny's Restaurant, 119 N 600 W (in the BDO in Ogden).
