Ella was a respected first grade teacher in Box Elder County for 40 years. In those years she taught over 1300 students. She maintained a personal interest in her students, and gained many friendships with students and parents. Ella served as Chairman of the UEA Public Relations Committee for six years. During this time they published a booklet entitled "It Worked For Us", as well as many newsletters. She also served as Utah State Chairman for the National School Public Relations Association in Washington, D.C.

Ella served in the Brigham City First and Ninth Wards of the LDS Church as a Sunday School teacher, a Relief Society teacher, and a Relief Society Visiting Teacher for many years. She was also a member of the Mutual Stake Board.
Despite her career, community, and church involvement, she found time to be a very good family member. She loved, enjoyed, and appreciated her two children. She cared for her elderly parents, her sister and husband, and helped her daughter through many illnesses. She took pride in her family and wrote her Family Life Histories. She encouraged her grandchildren's pursuit of education, kept them supplied with home canned fruit and other goodies. She helped support many of them on missions. In 1996 she sold her home of 75 years and moved to Bountiful to be closer to her family. Family and friends were important to her. In Bountiful Ella did volunteer work at Lakeview Hospital.
