Elsa Petersson Lonn

Our beloved mother, Mormor and Farmor, Ida Elsa Katarina Petersson Lonn, 86, returned with honor to our Heavenly Father on August 27, 2017 following a long and challenging illness. She was born in 12 Nov.1930 in Vislanda, Sweden, a daughter of Sigrid Olsson and Carl Johan Petersson.

She married Sven-Goran Lonn on June 5, 1954 in Vislanda, Sweden. Their union was blessed with four wonderful children, Anders, Christina, Magnus and Peter. She devoted her life to being a loving and devoted wife, mother, mormor and farmor.

Elsa was a wonderful example of charity, the pure love of Christ. She was always cheerful, happy, giving, loving and constantly hardworking. Her top priority in life was to nurture and care for her family. She was always devoted to being home to care her husband, children and grandchildren, cooking, laughing, visiting and eternally loving. No task was too small or too large. Her heart was always filled with hope, happiness and love for everyone. She provided the perfect loving setting and family life for her cherished children. Hers is a legacy of service and love to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Elsa enjoyed cooking, baking, visiting, working and socializing with her vast network of family and friends. Elsa was always quick to finish a task and start a new one. Her hands were always busy. She was an incredible seamstress, knitter, weaver and was extraordinarily talented at making handknit sweaters, woven tablecloths, runners, trasmattor and many handicrafts. She was keen in the small and simple details in life, flowers, special decorations, a bed spread, curtains or a pillow. She liked her home to be perfect, clean and organized.

Elsa, was a devoted servant of Christ. She loved to volunteer and serve in any church duty in the Protestant Lutheran Church. She was patient and supportive of her husband's service. Together, they worked and served others with kindness and joy. She will be remembered for her unselfish and Christ-like service and her legacy of compassion and charity.

After her husband, Sven-Goran's retirement, the two-enjoyed working together, side by side in the large family forest and their gardens in Vislanda, Sweden.

In 2005, Elsa suffered a debilitating stroke, which forever changed her time in mortality. We are grateful for the many people who have helped to care for our mother, especially her dedicated late husband, Sven-Goran, many family members, neighbors and friends. We honor you many kindnesses and express our gratitude and love to you.

Elsa is survived by her four children and their spouses, Anders (Inger) Lonn, Vargon, Sweden; Christina (Shaun) Myers, Ogden, Utah, currently serving an LDS Mission in Ciudad Obregon, Mexico; Magnus (Charlotte) Lonn, Stockholm, Sweden; and Peter (Ika) Lonn, Vaxjo, Sweden. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and one brother, Albert. She was preceded in death by a brother, Lennart, a sister, Birgit and a granddaughter, Annika.

Funeral services will be held September in Vislanda, Sweden.
