Eseta Malae Steadman Obituary (1955 - 2021)

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Eseta Malae Steadman passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 2, 2021 in South Ogden, UT. She was born November 8, 1955 in Aua, American Samoa to Uulopaimoana Afuvai and Afuvai Tu'ipapa Siafolau Leiato. She attended high school in Hawaii and then graduated from Salt Lake Community College in 1996. Eseta was previously married to Tafe Maae for 21 years where they had 7 children, 1 girl, and 6 boys. She separated from Tafe and moved to Utah in 1991 to be closer to her brother Filiki Malae and his family. She was a very strong, loyal, independent woman who raised her children to the best of her abilities all while working and going to school full-time. She worked as a Laboratory Technician for Henkel Corporation from 1996 until her passing. On May 3, 1997 she married Colin Steadman where he introduced her to the great outdoors. Eseta and Colin are grandparents to 12 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren, whom she loved, adored and spoiled. She had a competitive spirit and competed in volleyball, bowling, softball & cricket leagues. She loved to go camping, fishing and hiking and made that a yearly family tradition. Spending quality time with her family were the most cherished times in her life. She was especially loved by her nieces and nephews. They knew her to be accepting, loving, caring and understanding of all of their life choices. Eseta was known to be a second mother to many, accepting any who entered her home as her own. Eseta is preceded in death by her son Tafe Jr. Maae; parents Uulopaimoana Afuvai and Afuvai Tu'ipapa Siafolau Leiato, brother Sigafili Malae, sister Afuvai Temukisa Malae and niece Tammy Malae. She is survived by her husband Colin Steadman; children Rosie (Harry) Akeripa, Senetenari (Christine) Maae, Marcus Maae, Jason Maae, Vincent (Uilani) Maae and Edward Maae, and brothers Filiki Malae, Kuni (Aremenda) Leiato Jr., Lasi (Malaefono) Leiato and Mati (Priscilla) Leiato. Also, multiple nieces and nephews, too numerous to name. Memorial Services will be held at Myers Ogden Mortuary 845 Washington Blvd Ogden on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 11 a.m. with a family viewing prior from 9:40 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. Interment is to follow directly at Evergreen Memorial Park 100 N Monroe Blvd, Ogden. *We respectfully request that all who are in attendance wear protective face coverings, maintain social distancing when possible, and please stay home if you are sick or have been exposed to someone who is.
