Faye Dolores Randolph Deister
September 2, 1942 – September 16, 2026
Faye Dolores Randolph Deister, of Lakewood, California, passed away peacefully on
Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at her home in Ogden, Utah, of natural causes.
Faye was born in Los Angeles, California, on September 2, 1942, to Sherman and Katherine Randolph. She grew up in both Los Angeles and Joshua Tree National Park where she lived alongside her cousin Eddie Randolph and his family. After graduating from George Washington High School in 1960, Faye continued her education at Snow College in Utah.
In 1961, Faye met George Deister at a LDS Church Fireside in Los Angeles. After George
asked for her hand in marriage 100 times, Faye finally said yes! They were married in the Los Angeles LDS Temple on December 22, 1962. Faye and George settled in Lakewood, California, where they raised their four daughters. Throughout her life, Faye was dedicated to her community and personal passions, including active involvement with the local Girl Scouts, gardening and reading. She earned an associate degree from Long Beach City College and served in various professional roles, most notably
spending 20 cherished years as a librarian clerk at Millikan High School. Following her
retirement, she continued her love of learning and history as an educational field trip docent at Knott’s Berry Farm.
Faye will be most fondly remembered for her extraordinary passion for genealogy. Alongside George, and with their children in tow, she traveled across the United States searching through town records, archives, and cemetery tombstones to track down long-lost relatives. Through decades of research, she compiled and published three books documenting both her and her husband’s family lineages.
Faye is survived by her four daughters and their families: DeAnna and her children Stephanie and Michael; Deborah and her husband Christopher, and their children Christopher, Katherine, and James; Theresa and her husband Samual, and their children Lily, Jason, Lucy, Joseph, and Jacob; Sarah and her husband Robert, and their children Natalie and Rebecca.
We love Faye more than words can express and miss her dearly. We take comfort in knowing she is at peace with our Eternal Father in Heaven, reunited with her beloved husband George, her sisters Shirlee and Bette, and her brother Sherman.
