Faye Knudson Kenny Obituary (1928 - 2013)

Faye Jane Knudson Kenny Faye Jane Knudson Kenny embarked on her final adventure October 25, 2013. She was born April 3, 1928 to Jonathan Chester and Lucille Ricks Knudson and lived a magical childhood in Brigham City. She boarded a train for her first adventure to attend Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She later returned to the University of Utah where she affiliated with Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Faye next sailed on the luxurious Queen Elizabeth II for what turned into a four-year European tour. Her travels began in Heidelberg, Germany before she settled in Madrid, Spain to work, play and continue exploring the Continent. During that time, Faye carried on a spirited correspondence with Philip Kenny. Upon her return to Utah, they married and began a new life in Ogden. They eventually took separate paths but first they had five children all born within a record-breaking four-year span. Out of that mostly joyful chaos emerged five independent-minded children. Once she had heroically completed that task, Faye worked for the Weber State basketball program for nearly 20 years and enjoyed the distinctive charisma of Coaches McCarthy, Farmer, Houston and Abegglen. Faye was a classy, gracious and creative woman who dished out her unique style of kitchen table wisdom over the traditional glass of tea. She also had an amazing talent for reaching out and embracing all new people who came to Ogden. She fashioned a charming home and worked each morning in her enchanted garden where she lived for 52 years. Faye was unexpectedly preceded in death by her eldest son, Stephen. She challenges her remaining family to find joy in each day. Her four children --- Timothy (Tracy); Great Falls, Virginia; Caitlin (Greg) Gochnour, Ogden; Patrick, Salt Lake City; and Michael (Theresa), Ogden; her 11 grandchildren --- Nick, Gus, Gretchen, Sean, Ryan, Connor, Stephen, Collin, Hunter, Keira and Aidan; and her brother --- Ricks Knudson, Salt Lake City. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you plant a tulip or two and chart your own adventure --- large or small.
