Fern P. Shields

PLAIN CITY - Fern Lois Poulsen Shields passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2004 at the age of 90. She was born November 30, 1914 in Plain City to Louis Albert and Inebell Moyes Poulsen. Fern graduated from Weber High School and attended Utah State University.

She married Rudolph Vernon Shields on November 1, 1941. Rudy passed away November 21, 1984.

Fern was an active member in the LDS Church and served in various positions in many organizations throughout the United States and overseas.

She worked for Utah Tailoring Mills in her early career and was a professional seamstress for most of her life. She worked for the Defense Depot Ogden for over 10 years. She traveled throughout the United States and overseas with her husband during the 20 plus years he was on active duty with the United States Air Force. Fern and Rudy enjoyed an active retirement and spent several winters in Las Vegas where they formed many lasting friendships.

Fern is survived by two sons, Jeff (Carolyn) Shields of Plain City, UT; and Rick (Genevieve) Shields of Aloha, OR. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Tiffany (Steve) Nye, Rachelle Clausse, Brandy (Matt) Shay, and Cassie Berrett, all of North Ogden, UT; Katie Shields, San Marcos, TX; Karen Shields, Austin, TX; Nicole Shields, Rachel Shields, and Kyler Shields, all of Aloha, OR; six great grandchildren; and one sister, Elma Taylor, Plain City, UT.
