Franz Bryner Obituary (1934 - 2014)

Franz Bryner Franz passed away quietly in his sleep on November 20, 2014. Franz was born in Switzerland and served in the Swiss Army, where he began his love of working on guns. Franz immigrated to the U.S. and worked at the Flaig Gun Company in Pittsburgh. While in Pittsburgh, Franz enjoyed playing soccer and frequenting the German Club. At the German Club, Franz met Rose, who would eventually become his wife. Franz was given the opportunity to work for the Weatherby Gun Company in Los Angeles. After working at Weatherby for several years, Wolfe's Sporting Goods lured Franz to Ogden, Utah, where he ran the gun department for over a decade. Shortly after moving to Ogden, Franz and Rose's only child, Franz Jr. was born. Franz loved living in Ogden, where he was able to enjoy hunting, camping, and fishing, all of which he loved doing. In 1985, Franz opened his own gun shop. Franz greatly enjoyed the gun shop, where he was constantly surrounded by a great group of friends. Among the sporting gun community, Franz was thought to be the best gunsmith in the Intermountain West. Franz was liked by all who met him, and an unkind word was never spoken of him. Rose, Franz Jr. and all who knew Franz, will miss him dearly. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2014 at Myers Mortuary. Interment will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park.
