It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Gary Lee Hammond, who left us on March 12, 2026. Born on June 28, 1947, in Ogden, UT, to Delbert and Marie Hammond, Gary was a man of great character, integrity, and resilience. He was a devoted husband; a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather.
Gary spent his youth in between Scofield and Mt. Pleasant, Utah. He proudly served his country as an Army mechanic in Korea. He met and married the love of his life, Cathy, on June 20, 1969. The marriage was later made eternal in the Manti Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Gary was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, fishing, and hunting. He passed his love of the outdoors onto his 5 children. Gary and his family spent many family vacations camping in the San Rafael Swell Desert and in the mountains of the Manti-La Sal National Forest.
Left with his precious memories are his wife of 56 years, Cathy Hammond; his children, Jeffery (Darla) Hammond, Hereford, AZ; Karen Hammond, Ogden UT; Michelle Hammond, Ogden, UT; Michael (Megan) Hammond, Baker, FL; and Sherry Hammond, Ogden, UT; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; all of whom he loved and cherished dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Marie Hammond, brothers Leslie, Ronnie, and Donald Hammond, sisters Kay and Debbie Hammond, half-sisters Carol Williams, Louise Vestril, and half-brother Dee Wahlin. Gary's spirit will forever live on in our hearts and minds, his stories will echo in our laughter, and his love will continue to guide us, always.
In honor of Gary Hammond, we invite you to share your memories and upload photos to his memorial page at http://www.myers-mortuary.com. Let us celebrate his life and legacy, and let his stories continue to resonate, inspire, and bring us closer in love and remembrance.
