Gary Larsson

–

Ogden, Utah

Loving, kind, considerate, funny and always witty. That describes our husband, dad and grandpa, Gary Larsson who passed away peacefully on the morning of October 14, 2026. He has now taken his sense of humor and priceless facial expressions to new heights as the hosts of heaven will enjoy his quick wit and endearing smile.
Gary was born in Ogden Utah to Joseph Preston and Velda Larson Larsson. He grew up in Harrisville, Utah on the family street surrounded by grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Gary attended Weber High School where he was active in Drama and Student Government. He was the senior class president and kept his classmates coming to their class reunions for close to 70 years.

Dad served in the United States Navy, active duty for 2 years and continuing in the Naval Reserves for 28 years. He retired as a Lieutenant Commander in 1992.

He graduated from Weber State University where he met the love of his life Joyce Julander. They were sealed in the Logan Temple on August 1, 1958. Together they have called Harrisville home for 66 years.

Radio Control Aircraft was Gary’s passion. He enjoyed this hobby with his sons and grandsons. He made many lifelong friends on the flying field.

Gary was a great cartoonist and very artistic. He had a quick wit and a fun sense of humor and was constantly making people laugh, which we will all miss. Dad was a huge movie buff and music fan. His collection of records and movies is phenomenal.

A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gary had a firm testimony of the gospel, serving in many callings. He and Joyce served a 7 year service mission at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City. He has been a great example of Christ like love to his family and everyone around him.

Gary is survived by his wife Joyce; children: Shauna (Glen) Meyerhoffer, Scott (Kathy) Larsson, Laura (Brent) Mitton and John (Jamie) Larsson. He has 27 Grandchildren, 28 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great Great Grandchildren, all of whom were the joy of his life. Grandpa was also known for his magical treat time on Sunday nights.

Gary is also survived by his devoted younger brother Mitchel (Jo an) Larsson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 granddaughter (Hawley Meyerhoffer), Nephew and Niece Jeffery and Shana Larsson and Nephew Scott Spillman.

We would like to thank Ronel and aids from Atlas Homecare for their tender care as well as our family and many friends for their love, visits and support.
